But, in your pre-sale questions, I'm not finding any more info on that. I'm seeing references to installing an additional copy of WP in a subdirectory using Market theme, but is the plug-in a stand-alone without using the Market theme on my pages?

I have a wordpress site already designed, using thesis, and I just have 2 products that I want to consider using Market to do the ecommerce end of it.

I know there are other simple button solutions to this, but the reason I'm asking is that I have several other sites for clients that I am considering wordpress for, and Market was recommended for integrating eCommerce. So I wanted to get a feel for Market before committing to it for other sites. These client sites are larger companies with hundreds of items, and will be using their own merchant accounts, which I do see on your forum that you are working on that functionality in the next few months.
