This may be a dumb question but 'll ask anyway. In order to get to the top 10 results of Google do you need to have a blog with your store?

It's not required…
There are many different factors that help you move up the rankings. A regularly updated blog (or other unique content) will help.
You can get up there without it though.

Thank you for responding to my question. I feel as if I'm such as terrible writer and thought it might be to my detriment to start a blog. I reallyneed a copywriting class.

The idea of doing it is actually harsher than just doing it. (It's your blog, so there are no length requirements.)
If it helps, check out a place like "ezinearticles.com" or "goarticles.com". These can be great places to get ideas from. Read an article or two on your topic — and then write your own post in your own words. Easy!
