Yes, this theme can be used for digital downloads.

For the time being, I recommend using E-Junkie.com (it's like a buck or two a month) to handle digital downloads. Integration is simple - just paste the ejunkie code in place of the template code in the single.php or use the already ready to go E-Junkie add to cart download pack.

Hi,

I wonder if you could elaborate - WHY do you recommend using E-Junkie? What if you don't use E-Junkie for digital downloads? Is there a problem...?

Thanks,

I would recommend e-junkie, because with digital downloads -- you don't really want access available to the download area all the time.  Eventually, it could create a security risk if your downloads directory or path was published or shared on the internet somewhere.  You could set Paypal to redirect to your downloads area after the transaction easy enough, however someone could easily bookmark that page and share it.

With e-junkie, you can set up your system to only give access to the download area that one time.  (or for a limited period of 2 days or whatever you choose.)

Does that make sense why I recommend e-junkie?

So after it redirects to paypal does it redirect back to my site? Or does it go to e-junkie so the user can download the item purchased?

From e-junkie website

Buyer purchases your product using our buttons and pays you directly in your PayPal, Google Checkout, 2CheckOut, Authorize.Net or ClickBank account using their credit card, PayPal or Google Checkout account. Your payment processor notifies our server.

Our server verifies the notification and screens for fraud. Buyer is then redirected to the download instantly (if applicable). Additionally, an e-mail is sent to the buyer with the download link and your custom message.

It goes back to e-junkie.

You can setup your e-junkie account to either provide the order fulfillment, or redirect back to your website.  So, it can be either visible or invisible -- whatever you like.

Is digital delivery a future possibility without relying on a 3rd party service - i.e. integratring download protection via an .htaccess file or by emailing download links for content located in the server's root directory?

Also,

1.   can post affiliate pro 3  be intergrating easily, &

2. Is there a coupon, cross-sell, and/or tell-a-friend function?

This theme looks fantastic in terms of layout  and visual presentation; however, the digital content that I would be selliing would be cost-priohibitive in ejunkie or payloadz.  The monthly payment is much more than nominal if you are selling larger content than scripts or themes.

As it is "out of the box", you can have Market redirect the buyer from Paypal to a URL you designate, however it will be unsecure in terms of people being able to bookmark the link and possibly share it.  With E-junkie, it gives you the ability to add security.  E-junkie is a monthly service, but it's only $5 a month.  And you can add multiple products, so you can spread the cost over multiple projects.

You can include a hidden download link in the email receipt that the buyer is sent.  That is an option for you.  In terms of security, you may have to periodically change the hidden URL or password that you include in the email.  That's doable, but you'll just have to remember to change it once in awhile.

As far as .htaccess protection, I can't really offer any advice with that.  I also am not familliar with "affiliate pro 3".

Currrently, Market doesn't have a coupon function built-in.  It also does not have a cross-sell or tell-a-friend option.

I hope this helps.
