You've mentioned that disabling the add to cart and buy now buttons were as easy as commenting out the corresponding code. If that's true, that's awesome… and in one of the other responses, you mentioned being able to add my own HTML onto the single.php page.
Since I will be using this for an affiliate site, I'd like to make it easy for myself and setup a custom field with a custom buy now button attached to it, so all I do is enter the affiliate URL onto the Custom Field, and it will insert my custom buy now button linking to the URL i supply. I know how to do it, do you think that doing it would mess up any functionality of the script?
Also, if I buy the $55 version, and decide to upgrade to the devloper version later, can I just pay the difference?
I don't think it would mess up any functionality at all. The main reason being, is that if you change the existing "Buy Now" button code, then none of the resulting processes would trigger. The functionality would still be IN the theme, but it just wouldn't be used.
As far as upgrading to the developer license later, the answer is Yes..
Just do a search in this forum for "developer license", and there should be a thread relating to that question, with a clickable link to do it.

If I would have went through the whole Tour…. i would have seen:

Don't have any of your own items to sell? That's perfectly fine. Our How-To forum section (available only to theme owners) has detailed instructions that require you to change just a few lines of code to send your buy now buttons easily to any affiliate link on any site.
So…. thanks… i'll be buying soon enough.
