To use the admin backend, just follow the instructions in the RED header area at the top.

(The demo is using an older version of Wordpress, but the theme itself has no problem on the latest version of Wordpress.)

Customizing is pretty easy if you know some coding.  In addition, it also has a theme settings area in the admin section where you can customize colors, thumbnail attributes, sizing and other stuff WITHOUT having to know any code.
