Does the theme have the ability to configure sales tax for a particular state? For example, if I live in CA I have to collect sales tax from CA residents who buy products from my site. With the theme work with that? If not, is there any type of plugin that would be compatible with this theme?

It can be configured through the Paypal end, but Market Theme itself doesn't have tax rate functionality.

If a customer chooses to pay by a credit and not go thru Paypal, how does sales tax get added?

If it can't be setup in your Authorize.net account, then sales tax will not be collected.

As I said earlier, Market Theme is not currently setup to collect sales tax.

You could edit the shopping cart code manually in order for it to collect tax, however that would be3 on ALL orders, not just local ones to your state.

I agree.  Since this is an online store software system, a sales tax table and calculation should definitely be part of the system.
