“Market” quickly turns Wordpress (a free content management system) into an easy to use, fully functional ecommerce store. Market helps takes the “technical” out of setting up and operating your own online store.
Now that you’re here, take a look around and interact with this online demo. Here’s a good way to approach it:
- Click the “Example Product” thumbnail to the right for an overview of an example product.
- Next, click on a few other product thumbnails.
- Browse the text posts below to get an idea of what Market is and how it works.
- Then, login to the administration area as described in the post “How to Add Products” below.
Please note: Since this is a public demo, some administrative functionality is limited. (eg. a “demo” user cannot delete items, edit others’ posts, change online demo files, etc.) This is so people cannot erase this online demo.
When you operate your own copy of Market, you will have ALL administrative privileges and rights, and will be able to modify everything as you desire.
Here are a few quick pointers to help you out as you explore this demo of Market…
- Login to the administration area (link in red box at top)
- Click the “Add Product” menu tab, and enter a test product of your own.
- When you add a product, make sure you place it under the “Products” category or a sub-category with Products as the parent. (For a standard text blog post, simply choose a category other than Products such as “Information”.)
- After you’ve entered your product information and chosen a category, click the “Publish” button.
- To see your new test post, go back to the online store demo and click your “Refresh” button.
Using the “Products” category correctly will ensure that Market organizes and displays your posts correctly using the appropriate layout template. (ie. Product layout or Regular post)

It’s very easy to add products using the Market Product Manager plugin. When you upload and activate the Product Manager plugin (included free in your download package), it adds a new tab to your administration area labeled “Add Product”. To add a product, simply click on that link and fill out the forms just as if you were adding a new blog post. Make sure you place it within the “Products” category or in a subcategory with “Products” as the parent

This way, you can present all of your products in a straight-forward visual manner, allowing your visitor to quickly browse all of your offerings.
