You create a Page, then in the create page entry form, you select the Page Template "grid view template". Then save.

Thank you so much for your reply.  I tried it and it now works.  I created a heading called gift ideas and then selected gridview template.

I don't understand how this works - We have created pages for each category, and given them grid-view template as the template for the page.  It is still unclear how to make the market theme use this template instead of a list view on these pages.

I want this page :http://new.curiouscustoms.com/?cat=3   to use the grid view, but I can't make it work or find the answer here in the forum.

Thanks for your help!

There are two different methods that you're actually combining.

What is done above, is creating new page templates, and then assigning each one a unique category.  That's what's done in this thread:

http://www.markettheme.com/for.....categories

These new pages will show up in your navigation bar.

What you are attempting (shown by your page link) is using the built-in category navifation structure (using the "category.php" file)

A grid view can still be done using the category view, but it involves some different coding modifications.

Here's the post for doing that:

Regarding the grid-view template for the home page, to show ALL PRODUCTS, newest listed first, and a number like 30 items, what would you recommend?

You'll have to modify the "gridview.php" file a little.

On line #34 where it says:

$wp_query->query('orderby=title&order=asc&cat='.$grid_cat_id.'&showposts='.$mkt_options['mkt_grid_thumbs_per_page'].'&paged='.$paged);

you'll have to change the "orderby=" value from 'title' to 'date'

Then, you'll have to go into the Wordpress dashboard "Settings" area and go under "Reading".  There is a field there to select the number of posts per page to show.  Change that to 30.
