Calculating shipping

Looked at the backend of the theme, so far so good.  The one thing that concerns me is that I base shipping on the dollar amount in the cart; up to $100 $6.50 shipping, $100.01 to $250.00 $7.50 etc.  Can this be done?  I didn't see a rate chart for shipping.

I'm not great at http://FTP.  When the site is dowloaded into WordPress will I be able to use 'editor' to change any code once I find out what it is?  As an example; adding additional thumbnails to the product page?

I also noticed a 'specials' box which is below the categories.  Can that box be moved up to under the search box?  Same goes with the picture (of the box in your demo site) at the bottom of the categories area?

If you don't place your logo in the logo area, will the box go away?  I'd like to use the header as my logo area.

Does the customer receive a 'thank you' email after their purchase?

Thanks much

This is not built in, but it can be done with a little bit of modification to one of the shopping cart files.  Just a couple of lines of code.

Basically a test of the total shipping amount.  If it falls within the ranges you designate, make the total shipping equal to "$x.xx".

Just post the question on the forum when you're ready, and I'll supply you with the code that you need to make it happen.  (Other members will be able to benefit from the ability as well.)

There's already a support post regarding something along these lines, which I can reference as well once you're a member.

This and most all other code changes, can be done through the Wordpress admin theme editor tool.

The "Specials" box can be moved by making an edit to the "sidebar.php" file.  (Basically moving a section of code up higher to place it just after the "search" box area.  Same for the picture image.

If you don't have a logo there, it will say "insert logo here".  Basically, all you have to do is upload a blank image for your logo.  Even a 1x1 pixel transparent image will work.

The customer DOES receive an email receipt from Paypal after their purchase, but not a "thank you" email.  You can of course put some "Thank you" text on your final "order success" page that the customer is redirected to after a sale.

I hope this helps.

One more presale question please, I'm really hoping you'd be able to answer because…another plug-in I just wasted my money on can't seem to resolve my problem with them; therefore I've decided to chuck it, and go a head with your template instead.

My issue with them is getting their templates properly transfered with http://FTP.  No matter what they tell me to do, I cannot find the files they insist are there (I believe it's a problem they're having because the shopping cart system has been intergrated with a well known "theme").

I've looked over your install instructions, I really couldn't find that you have to upload directly into a FTP server then download to WordPress.  Being that you are a theme, can I simply upload it to my desktop, then load it directly from WordPress?  I would think that I'd be able to edit through using Appearance/Editor within Word Press?  Oh please tell me this is so?

I'm an artisan jewelry designer and want to have an e-commerce store through WordPress,  your Market Theme looks to be fairly easy.  If in deed it is, then all I need to do is spread the word within the many, many forums I'm involved with.

How about I cut you a deal?  You give me the template, I'll set up an artisan site, you can use it to showcase to all the artisans and crafters out there? (smile)   Just a thought LOL.

Seriously, I need this to be as simple as possible.  If your instructions are such that anyone (mostly me) can understand, and I can edit through Appearance/Editor within WordPress, and I don't need to be a programmer to understand all of this, we have a deal!

Looking forward to hearing from you asap as I'd like to get going on it.

Thanks,

Jules

Yes you can upload it directly to Wordpress.

Here's what you'll need to do.

1.  Download the full package from the download center.

2. Unzip it.

Once you unzip it onto your local machine, you'll see a "readme.html" file with installation instructions, AND also a file "mk4.zip".

If you want, you can use the built in Wordpress theme uploader tool, to upload the "mk4.zip" file.  That's the easiest way.

Or…

You can just manually FTP upload the uncompressed files to the "/wp-content/themes/mk4/" folder.

You can edit the theme through the Wordpress theme editor tool as well.

I think you'll be very pleased with Market should you decide to purchase.  It's very easy to setup and use, and there is a LOT of valuable info in the forums here, along with a lot of active members.

I hope the helps Jules…
