Individual Shipping Costs

Beautiful theme & plug-in…
I've been looking in the admin section, and it looks really comprehensive.

One question that I couldn't find an answer to is about calculating shipping charges. I see how to add a shipping price to an item; but is there an option to do it by weight?

ie. The cost of shipping 1 ProductX is $5. So if the customer chooses 2 ProductX, they'll be charged 2x$5 = $10. Which is probably ok if they only order 2; but if they order 5, will they be charged $25 shipping? – which might seem high.

Is there a way to enter a maximum shipping charge? (ie shipping can never be more than $8.99?) Or is it possible to calculate shipping costs by product weight?

Love to purchase this, but would like to know beforehand.

Depends on your location…if your US based you can use Paypal Profile based shipping (set in your paypal account). This allows you to calculate shipping by a number of values, including weight if you wish to use it.

You imply above that the Market Theme can pass product weight information to PayPal. I don't see anywhere on the product page where I can add weight. How do I assign a weight to each item so PayPal can calculate shipping cost on weight?

Currently, Market would need some code additions to offer weight based shipping. There is no built-in functionality to do this at the moment.

It COULD be done by changing 2 files in the theme, so that it populates the "weight" variable and passes it to Paypal, and 1 change in the product manager plugin so that you can easily enter the weight of the product.

So, to answer your question — you can't do it by weight as-is, but it's possible to convert it to do so.

(However there's not any code provided in the forums to do this to my knowledge).
